Teen Arrested in Beating of Pratt Student

Police are looking for at least two other suspects

Brooklyn police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the vicious assault and robbery of a Pratt Institute student earlier this month.

Eugene Adams, of Bedford-Stuyvesant, is charged with assault, robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.

The 22-year-old victim, Eddie Sanchez, is in a medically induced coma at Kings County Hospital, where he has been since the Aug. 4 attack.

Sanchez, who is from Florida, was in Brooklyn to take summer school architecture classes at Pratt.  He was attacked near the intersection of Lexington and Grand Avenues after leaving class.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the five teenagers who confronted Sanchez started punching and kicking him after he refused to immediately hand over his wallet. When he fought back, one of them hit him in the head with a crowbar, Kelly said.

The suspects were caught on surveillance camera trying to use Sanchez's ATM car at a bodega on Classon Avenue.

Detectives received information as to Adams' identity through a call to CrimeStoppers. Police are looking at least two other suspects.
