A man found dead in a Washington Heights apartment has been identified as the son of former ABC anchor Ted Koppel, police said today.
Detective John Sweeney said Andrew Koppel, 40, was declared dead around 1:30 a.m. Monday in a Washington Heights apartment. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Koppel was reportedly drinking heavily on Sunday night, the New York Post reports, and was with a man he'd met at a bar in Hell's Kitchen.
Police said Koppel lived in Queens. He was one of Koppel's four sons.

His father, Ted Koppel, was the longtime anchor of ABC's news show "Nightline.'' A call to his publicist was not immediately returned.
