Teacher's Union Gives Mayor Failing Grade on Education

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott sat silently behind Mulgrew on Saturday as the union leader held up the F and his members cheered

United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew is giving Mayor Michael Bloomberg an F for his education policies.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott sat silently behind Mulgrew on Saturday as the union leader held up the F and his members cheered.

Walcott attended the union's spring conference in Manhattan.

He listened as Mulgrew urged his members to help overturn the policies championed by Walcott and Bloomberg.

Mulgrew told the crowd of more than 1,000 that Bloomberg's tenure has been a "decade of disaster" for schools. He cited a recent Quinnipiac poll that showed New Yorkers disapprove of the way Bloomberg is handling education by 2 to 1.

Walcott slipped out after Mulgrew's address and said he was not surprised to hear criticism of Bloomberg at a union conference.
