Taxi Customers Could See Refund

Taxi meters show a "4" in the left corner, as seen here, when the out-of-town rate is on.

Do you think a cabbie ripped you off?

Well, you might get some money back -- if you paid your fare with a credit card.

According to the NY Post, the head of the Taxi and Limousine Commission is vowing to get as much of the overcharges back as he can, and work with banks to reimburse the victims.

If you paid cash, however, you're out of luck.

As we reported last week, TLC investigators found that three-quarters of the city's cabbies -- over 35,000 hacks --  have deliberately overcharged a customer at least once, to the tune of more than $8 million total.
