Anthony Weiner gets hot over health insurance.

Republicans tried to "take down" Congressman Anthony Weiner on the House floor today in a heated exchange that happened after Weiner called the Republican Party "a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry."

The exchange took place during debate on a bill to lift the insurance industry's exemption from antitrust rules.

Republican Dan Lungren, sounding quite offended,  invoked a little used House rule and demanded that Weiner's words "be taken down" -- as in stricken from the record.

Weiner, for a moment, appeared contrite, asking for his words to be amended.  Though he had promised to "substitute other words", he resumed with an even more caustic attack -- and pretty much the exact same wording.

"Make no mistake about it. Every single Republican I have ever met in my entire life is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the insurance industry.

Listen for yourself.

The  RNC hasn't yet responded.
