Get your wetsuit ready, Shark Week is back and there are several New York City area restaurants, hotels and activities for shark lovers to dive into.
Shark Week has become a summertime staple where shark themed content swims into Discovery Channel’s prime time lineup.
Take a bite out of Shark Week 2017 by exploring these New York City restaurants, hotels and attractions:
- The Broadway lounge inside the New York Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway, will turn into a nautical paradise and play Shark Week on TVs all across the bar while serving themed food and cocktails.
- Ride The Beast, a speed boat that looks like a shark, and take a twisty trip down the Hudson River. Since this extreme speed boat can reach 45 mph, it is not recommended for the faint of heart.
- See real life sharks at the New York Aquarium in the Bronx. Visitors can get a glimpse of sand tiger sharks and their gleaming fangs. The shark exhibit is one of the few exhibits open while the aquarium is under construction.
- Brave souls can feed and swim with sharks at the Long Island Aquarium, 431 East Main St., Riverhead, NY. The two exhibits are a part of the Aquarium’s Lost City of Atlantis Shark Exhibit.
- Pearl's, 178 N 8th St., Brooklyn, NY, gives shark lovers an opportunity to take a bite out of the feared fish with the restaurant's Bake and Shark sandwich.
- Plant-based eaters can head to Mother of Pearl NYC, 95 Avenue A, a plant based Tiki bar with a vegan-friendly cocktail for shark lovers named Shark’s Eye.
- Cold Stone Creamery, which has several New York City locations, has created two signature ice cream treats that Shark Week fanatics can chomp on. Coldstone will also have a social media contest where ice cream lovers can post photos of the two signature creamy creations using #ColdStoneSharkWeek for a chance to win prizes.
- The Folly, 92 West Houston St., is a nautical-themed restaurant shaped like a ship, that serves a seafood and rum cocktails fit for a pirate.
