A TSA screener at John F. Kennedy Airport was caught trying to steal $5,000 from a passenger Wednesday night as he went through a checkpoint, Port Authority police said.

Agent Alexandra Schmid was caught on video allegedly lifting the cash out of the travelers jacket as it went through a screening machine. She is charged with grand larceny.

Fellow TSA screeners and Port Authority police at the terminal helped make the arrest.

Investigators said Schmid went to the restroom to try to hide the cash after taking the money at the Terminal 4 checkpoint. Schmid is from Brooklyn and has worked as a TSA screening agent for more than four years.

“TSA holds its security officers to the highest professional standards and has a zero-tolerance policy for theft in the workplace,” said TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein.

Schmid was expected to appear in Queens criminal court later Thursday.  It was not immediately known if she had a lawyer.

As for the passenger, he continued on his planned trip overseas after the arrest was made.
