Authorities Seize 2,000 Bags of Synthetic Marijuana in Harlem

New York City authorities have seized more than 2,000 bags of synthetic marijuana along a commercial stretch of Harlem.

Police said Monday that they found the bags in two stores along Lexington Avenue on Thursday.

The operation comes after 8,000 bags of the product were found in five other stores on the same stretch of road on July 2.

The synthetic drug had been packaged for sale under several names.

During Thursday's operation, two people were arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance at one location.

All the stores had been served with an order to stop selling the drug, which Police Commissioner William Bratton labeled a "growing national problem."
