Swastikas Discovered on Landmark Synagogue

Police say two swastikas were discovered on a landmark New York City synagogue where State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has worshipped since he was a boy.

Two eggs were also thrown at the Bialystoker Synagogue on Manhattan's Lower East Side on Thursday, and the two swastikas were drawn in black marker on its front doors.

Speaker Silver called for New Yorkers to be vigilant in "educating children and adults on the consequences of hatred."

State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has announced that his Civil Rights Bureau is opening an investigation, calling the vandalism "outrageous" and "deeply disturbing."

Police are looking for two male suspects, both in their teens.
