Suspected BMW Attacker Shot By Marshals In Florida

Suspect on the run dies in Fla. shootout

The suspect wanted for trying to kill a man and locking him in the trunk of his BMW was himself shot and killed by U.S. Marshals Friday.

Police said Barion Blake was on the run, hiding out in Jacksonville, Fla. when NYPD detectives and U.S. Marshals closed in. Blake died in a shootout at the scene, officials said.

Blake, who had a history of stealing BMW's, was believed to have attacked BMW owner Akeem Ajimotokan. Ajimotokan had apparently met with Blake to try to sell him the vehicle.

The victim nearly had his ear cut off in the attack, and was left for dead in the trunk.

Ajimotokan was trying to sell the car for more than $40,000 and had posted it for sale on the Internet. He continues to recover from his injuries.

In the standoff in Florida, police said as many as 10 shots may have been fired.
