Brooklyn Stabbing Suspect Dies After Being Shot by Police: NYPD

Officers responding to a stabbing call shot and killed a man who allegedly came at them with a pair of scissors Sunday night in the third shooting involving NYPD officers in recent days, authorities said.

The suspect, 39, allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old woman in an apartment on Clarkson Avenue in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, and when officers arrived, EMS was already treating the woman. The suspect, whose identity hasn't been released, was in a back room and lunged at officers with scissors when they got to the scene, police said.

Two officers shot the man in the stomach and hand, and he was pronounced dead in the apartment, according to the NYPD.

The woman, who was stabbed in the right shoulder, is in stable condition.

The shooting follows another police-involved shooting early Sunday in which NYPD officers shot and wounded a man they said pointed a gun at them in East Harlem.

Police said they were responding to a 911 call about a large disorderly group and a man with a firearm at the Washington Houses. According to the police, the suspect ran away when they arrived. During the ensuing chase, they say, the suspect turned and pointed a .22-caliber revolver at the officers and they fired.

In a police-involved shooting on Friday afternoon, four officers shot and killed a man suspected of taking drugs and cash from a Manhattan pharmacy after the man raised his weapon at them, police said.
