Police patrols are still searching for a surfer who disappeared Thursday off Gilgo State Park on Long Island.

Officers from the New York State Park Police, the Coast Guard, the Long Beach Police Department and Nassau and Suffolk police have all been involved in the three-day search for 31-year-old Zachary Gottfried.

Gottfried disappeared Thursday night in 10-foot surf and was still missing Sunday.

Newsday reports
that Gottfried's surfboard was recovered Thursday and a paddle was recovered Friday.

Boat-repair shop owner T.R. Fatscher says Gottfried was an avid surfer who would travel anywhere to surf.
