Summer Water Restrictions for 4 NJ Municipalities

Ridgewood Water has announced summer water restrictions for four New Jersey municipalities.

Starting June 1 and ending Aug. 31, residents in Glen Rock, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Wyckoff will only be able to use lawn irrigation systems for three days each week.

Odd-numbered addresses will be allowed to use sprinklers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Even-numbered addresses will be allowed to use sprinklers on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Hand-held hoses are allowed any day of the week.

A total ban on irrigation could be imposed if drought conditions worsen.

The U.S. Drought Monitor says New Jersey's dry spell has gotten worse and more than a quarter of the state is in a moderate drought.

More than 80 percent of the state is now considered abnormally dry. That's close to 30 percent more than last week. And 29 percent is in a moderate drought compared to just 11 percent last week.
