Police are looking for a man wanted in a subway robbery and assault in Brooklyn that sent a rider to the hospital with slash wounds.

The assailant approached a 40-year-old man on the southbound F train at the Avenue I stop at about 1:55 a.m. Sunday and knocked the man's cell phone out of his hands, police said. When the victim went to pick up the phone, the robber slashed him in the lower back and fled the train with the phone.

The victim was taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.

The robber is described as being about 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a jean jacket and a red hooded sweatshirt.
