Police cordoned off parts of Midtown this afternoon to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked on the corner of 51st Street and Park Avenue.  But the situation has been declared all clear by police.

Police say the measure was strictly precautionary as they discovered a Mercedes that was parked there since the am and appeared to be weighed down, low to the ground.  Some blood was found on the window of that car so that added to the concern, authorities said.

"The Mercedes was parked there since a.m.," an NYPD spokesman told NBC New York. "It appears low to the ground... weighted down so as a precaution they are examining.... There is nothing visible in the car or seats that is suspicious. "
