Suspect in New Jersey Girl's Stray-Bullet Shooting Death Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

One of the men charged in the death of a 12-year-old girl who was killed by a stray bullet while riding a scooter in northern New Jersey pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges in court Tuesday.

Jeffery Ellerbee, 21, is the second young man charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses in the death of Genesis Rincon.

The girl was struck in the head on July 5 as she rode from a local store to a family gathering in Paterson. She was kept on life support for several days until her organs were donated.

Prosecutors also charged 19-year-old Jhymiere Moore with murder. He's pleaded not guilty.

A third man, 19-year-old Marshae Anthony, is charged with weapons offenses.

Prosecutors have said Rincon was not the intended target.
