Staten Islander's Jet Celebration Turns Fatal

A 46-year-old man was killed riding the sled down his driveway to celebrate the Gang Green win

A Staten Island man sledding on his driveway to celebrate the Jets victory was killed after he veered off the steep incline onto the road and into the path of an oncoming car.

Police said 46-year-old Raymond Larsen was riding the sled down his driveway on Cleveland Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, just minutes after the Jets improbably playoff victory over the New England Patriots.

The driveway is steep, and Larsen went into the road as a 61-year-old woman was driving her car past the spot.

Neighbors told the Staten Island Advance that they heard "a loud noise like metal hitting metal almost" before they came out of their house and saw the lifeless body of Larsen, clad in Mark Sanchez jersey and bleeding from the head.

Larsen rode on a blue sled disc after the Jets upset victory over the Patriots, according to the Advance.

Police said Larsen was unconscious at the scene. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
