Police are investigating after someone spray-painted racial slurs and other obscenities on cars in Staten Island early on Sunday.

Officers found three cars that had been vandalized after responding to a call on Westervelt Avenue in St. George, according to the NYPD.

The cars weren't far from where part of the massive protest in the wake of the death of Eric Garner took place over the weekend, officials say.

The vandalisms are being investigated as hate crimes.
