8 Staten Island Middle School Girls Sick After Drinking at School

The students were all taken to the hospital

Eight seventh-grade girls on Staten Island were sickened Wednesday after passing around an AriZona Iced Tea bottle and a water bottle that authorities later said had the odor of alcohol.

Most of the girls were taken to the hospital after their parents were notified and 911 was called.

Authorities were called to Morris Intermediate School on Castleton Avenue around midday.

The Department of Education said "the school is investigating and disciplinary action is pending."

One woman whose daughter attends the school, but was not one of those sickened, said she planned to speak with her child about alcohol consumption.
