Pedestrian Struck on Staten Island Expressway

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest after being struck by a vehicle on the Staten Island Expressway Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Emergency responders were called to the area of West Shore and Staten Island Expressway at about 5:45 p.m., where a pedestrian was reportedly struck.

The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center.

Staten Island Expressway westbound was backed up during the evening rush as crews attended to the scene.

Investigation is ongoing.
