A 22-year-old New York City man has admitted posing as a neighborhood watchman to rape a woman who needed help.
The New York Post says Ivan Ramos pleaded guilty to the attack in Manhattan court on Wednesday.
The Manhattan district attorney's office says Ramos went up to the 29-year-old woman in the West Village early on April 15. She was intoxicated and had lost her cell phone and cash.
Prosecutors say Ramos falsely claimed he was with a watch group. They say he persuaded her to give him her bank card to help her withdraw cash for a taxi.
They say she then asked him to take her to a police station, but he led her to a dark and deserted stairwell in a building on Perry Street and violently sexually assaulted her for 15 minutes, according to court documents.
