A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in a brawl at a Queens high school Tuesday, authorities say.
Four students apparently started brawling in the lobby at John Bowne High School in Flushing Tuesday morning, and one of them pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed a 16-year-old boy, students and officials say.
"It was just crazy, I've never seen anything like it," said Rafael Nunez.
One of the school's deans tried to step in, according to students.
"He tried to break it up, he was bleeding out of his hand," said Alchi Santos.
The teen was taken to a local hospital with stab wounds on the left side of his body, according to fire officials. Three others were taken into custody and are being questioned by police.
"It makes me nervous because I'm worried about my protection in the school," said senior Gina Cardenes. "I'm supposed to feel safe, I'm supposed to feel like I'm in a good, stable environment where nothing's going to happen."

There are no metal detectors at John Bowne, but students get randomly screened, according to the school safety officers union. Last year, 15 weapons were found through screening, and another nine were found under other circumstances.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Education said in a statement: "Safety always comes first, and the NYPD and EMS immediately responded to the troubling incident. We are working closely with the NYPD as they conduct an investigation and will ensure it's addressed."
