Small Plane Goes Down in Delaware; 2 Rescued

Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a small amphibious plane went down in the Delaware River, but the two men aboard were rescued.

Chester Fire Department Battalion Chief Tony Capasso says the SeaRey plane from Wilmington, Del., was practicing landing and takeoff maneuvers when it got into trouble at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Although the mishap occurred on the New Jersey side of the river, a rescue boat from Chester, Pa. was dispatched and rescued the two men aboard. They were taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where a hospital spokesman said they were still being evaluated but would probably be treated and released.

Coast Guard spokesman Jonathan Lindberg says a Coast Guard rescue boat was also dispatched to the scene.
