Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Robert Moses State Park

The pilot was the only person on board, and law enforcement sources said he was not injured

A small plane made an emergency landing in a beach parking lot at Robert Moses State Park on Long Island Saturday morning, New York State Park Police said.

The pilot was the only person on board, and the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that he was not injured.

According to the FAA, the plane had departed from MacArthur Airport in Islip before the pilot reported an engine problem and proceeded to land in an empty parking lot at the beach near Captree Bridge at around 8:40 a.m.

The FAA is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the landing.
