  • It wasn't clear when test results on the skull were expected

Authorities are awaiting test results that could determine if a skull found along the banks of the Hudson River is that of a 12-year-old upstate New York boy who disappeared a decade ago.

Officials say a hiker found the skull Feb. 26 in a wetland area in the Greene County town of Coxsackie. A day later, state police, sheriff's deputies and state Department of Environmental Conservation officers searched the area for clues.

DEC officials said Monday that an examination revealed the skull likely came from a boy between the ages of 10 and 13.

Jaliek Rainwalker disappeared from his adoptive parents' home in Greenwich in Washington County in November 2007. Police believe he was slain, but so far no one has been charged.
