2 Killed in Separate Crashes on Long Island

Two people were killed Saturday in separate traffic accidents on Long Island, police said.

The first crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. when a car overturned on the William Floyd Parkway in Shoreham, killing a teenage driver.

Kevin Callejas, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-car crash, Suffolk County police said.

His car overturned and landed on its roof in the wooded median of the road.

The cause of the crash hasn't been determined.

The second accident involved three vehicles and killed 62-year-old Maureen Bodkin, of Islip, Suffolk County police said.

Bodkin's van was struck by another car and overturned several times, investigators said.

The force of the collision caused her van to strike another car before it rolled over.

The driver of the car that hit the van was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. The driver of the other car wasn't injured.

The accident occurred just before noon in East Islip.
