A person believed to be a commuter was shot during a robbery at a train station in New Jersey Friday morning, police say.

The victim was shot and robbed on the New York-bound platform at the New Jersey Transit station on West Grand Street in Elizabeth at about 4:50 a.m., police say.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. No other injuries have been reported.

The shooting is not affecting train service. Police cordoned off the part of the platform where the shots were fired, but commuters were allowed to wait for their trains nearby.
