Volunteer Arrested for Alleged Sex Abuse at Storm Shelter

A 25-year-old man who volunteered at a Long Island storm shelter during Irene has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a woman who sought refuge at the location.

Police say Anthony Henry, of Roosevelt, offered to help the Red Cross at Nassau Community College in East Garden City during the storm and, at some point, allegedly inappropriately touched a 42-year-old woman seeking shelter there.

The victim then sought out security, who notified police.

Henry was arrested Sunday afternoon. He was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and will be arraigned today in First District Court, Hempstead, police say.

It wasn't immediately clear if Henry had an attorney.
