Multiple Severe Thunderstorm Watches Issued Across Tri-State

The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm watches throughout the Tri-State area.

In New York, the watches cover all the boroughs in New York City, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam and Dutchess counties.

In New Jersey the counties of Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson and Union are affected.

Watches have been issued in Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London counties in Connecticut.

Various thunderstorms are expected to blow through the region Thursday along a southeastward moving cold front, according to meteorologists. Expect wind gusts up to  60 mph and hail during the afternoon and evening.

The watches are in effect until at least 8 p.m.
