5 people reported dead.

A purse snatcher in an SUV has struck at least seven times in northern New Jersey this month, cops say.

Police say the robber has grabbed purses as he drove by women in Clifton, Lodi, Kearny and Bloomfield.

Lodi Deputy Police Chief Vincent Quatrone told The Record newspaper the latest incidents happened Sunday when the driver reached out of his window, grabbed a woman's purse and drove off.

Police in Kearny says the robber struck later that day in Kearny when a woman was knocked down after her purse was grabbed in a parking lot.

Police say witnesses believe the suspect is driving a blue Hyundai Santa Fe.
