Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand: D.C.'s Hottest Senator?

New York state’s politicians are well known for a lot of things -- and beauty, physical or otherwise, isn't generally one of them.

But Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) is setting a new standard as one of the most beautiful people in Washington, according to the newspaper The Hill.

Gillibrand, a 43-year-old mother of two, ranks No. 3, just below two 24-year-old single ladies. The Hill’s story notes that her slimmer silhouette is one of her more appealing qualities.

On top of parenting her 2-year-old and 6-year-old sons and serving New York state as its junior senator,  Gillibrand stays in shape in part by being the co-captain of the female Congress members’ softball team, playing tennis and squash and jogging.

“Like every new mom, it takes time to get back in shape and be yourself again,” said Gillibrand, whose youngest son is 2 years old. “ Most of us are not Heidi Klum and Angelina Jolie who look great the next day.  For me, it took a good two years. It’s always a struggle to stay fit while juggling a busy work schedule and being a good mom.”

Once dubbed one of the cities with the ugliest people, Washington, D.C., is on the up and up these days. The Daily Beast named the district home of the country’s most attractive people this year. Still, it’s not exactly a scientific process.
