New York Unveils ‘See Something, Say Something' App to Fight Terrorism

All New Yorkers know the adage: "See something, say something. Now, there's an app to go along with the saying.

Gov. Cuomo announced the app, called "See Send"  as part of a campaign to fight terrorism and make it easier for residents to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.

"These new efforts are essential pieces in our fight against terrorism," Cuomo said. "We have stepped up our preparedness in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, and we continue to remain vigilant against those who seek to spread fear and violence. Despite the tremendous pain and loss that terrorist attacks around the world have caused the people of this state, the family of New York stands stronger than ever before."

The app allows smartphone users to send photos and written messages to the state's intelligence center. Once a message is received, it will be evaluated and sent on to law enforcement agencies around the state. The app is not intended to replace the 911 system.

The announcement of the app, which can be downloaded here, comes a little over a week after terrorists killed 130 people in Paris and injured hundreds more.
