Security Guard Accused of Murdering Colleague at Work

Police say a private security guard in Mount Vernon is accused of fatally shooting a colleague.

Dontan Jenkins of Mount Vernon was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder.

Mount Vernon Police Commissioner Terrance Raynor told the Journal News the 47-year-old victim was shot multiple times early Monday. He says the victim was found inside his glass-enclosed booth in the lobby of the Levister Towers housing complex.

The Bronx victim's name was not immediately released.

Raynor says the unarmed victim and Jenkins had argued on Sunday. The commissioner says Jenkins returned to the building and allegedly shot the victim as he was working a double shift.

Information about Jenkins attorney wasn't immediately available. A phone number for a Dontan Jenkins in Mount Vernon was not in service.
