Subway Becomes Tunnel of Love With Marriage Proposal

The pair of urban planners were on a tour of the future station at Manhattan's East 86th Street

A New York City man chose a unique setting to propose to his girlfriend: a subway tunnel under construction.

Carolyn Grossman said "Yes," to Adam Meagher, who got down on his knee in the Second Avenue subway on Sunday.

"Just like New Yorkers, I've been waiting a long time for the Second Avenue Subway," Meagher said to Grossman. "I have also been waiting a long time to ask you this question, which is, "Will you marry me?"

She answered, "Oh my God. 100 percent."

The 35-year-old Meagher and his 31-year-old fiancee are both urban planners. She says their best conversations have been in New York's transit system.

The MTA arranged for the couple to join a community tour of the future station at Manhattan's East 86th Street.

Meagher sealed his proposal with a 1920s vintage diamond ring.
