Seals Spotted Sunbathing on Staten Island Shore

About a dozen seals were spotted sunbathing on the shore of Staten Island recently, according to the NYPD.

The seals were spotted on rocks jutting off Hoffman and Swinburne islands, according to a tweet from the NYPD's special operations bureau.

"Winter visitors in the New York Harbor. The seals at Swinburne & Hoffman Islands," the bureau said in a tweet.

It's not clear how long the seals hung out at the spot, but it's not the first recent wildlife spotting in New York City recently. A coyote was trapped in Riverside Park in Manhattan on Jan. 10.
