The board approved a five-year contract extension for Seitz on Nov. 9 to boost his pay to more $216,000.
Under a new pay scale that took effect this month, superintendents are to earn $125,000 to $175,000, depending on enrollment.
Christie says the board thwarted the new law by approving Seitz's contract extension.
Meanwhile, the county executive superintendent has ordered the board for a second time to rescind the extension.
