4 Hurt, Scaffolding Collapses in Washington Heights Crash

A car crash on a busy avenue uptown hurt four people and caused scaffolding to collapse Sunday morning, authorities say.

Two vehicles collided at Broadway and 161 Street in Washington Heights just before 8 a.m., causing one car to plow on to the sidewalk and into scaffolding. Another vehicle crashed into a nearby median. 

One person was taken to Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition, authorities said. Three others were taken Harlem Hospital, one in critical condition and two with minor injuries. 

Firefighters were on the scene inspecting the scaffolding. It has been closed to pedestrians.
