The driver of a New York City sanitation truck drifted into oncoming traffic in Brooklyn and hit a car, injuring two men, and was charged with driving while intoxicated, authorities say.

Police say the two men in the other car were taken to a hospital after the crash Tuesday night and were in stable condition.

The sanitation truck driver, 30-year-old Sebastiano Tritto, was arrested at the scene.

A person who answered the phone at the Sanitation Department early Wednesday said no one was available to comment, and a message was left seeking comment from the sanitation workers' union.
