Police say a New Jersey man posed as a landlord to steal a security deposit for an apartment from a woman displaced by Sandy.

Brick Township police arrested 46-year-old Anthony White of Toms River on Wednesday.

They say he agreed to meet a woman who'd posted an ad on Craigslist searching for a place to live after Sandy damaged her family's home.

Authorities say He provided a key and a phony lease for her to sign and she gave him $2,250 in cash.

Police say the woman's 17-year-old daughter took a picture of White because she was suspicious. The photo helped them track down the suspect.

White has been released on $7,000 bail. A current phone number for him could not be found.
