3 Rescued from Capsized Sailboat on Long Island

The boaters, who were wearing life jackets, were pulled out of the water minutes after rescuers arrived

Police say they rescued three men after a strong gust of wind capsized their sailboat on the Long Island Sound.      

Suffolk County police were alerted by a man who observed the boat going over from his home Tuesday evening.      

According to Newsday
, the boat capsized around 6:30 p.m. north of Target Rock in Huntington.      

The boaters, who were wearing life jackets, were pulled out of the water minutes after rescuers arrived. They were not injured.      

The National Weather Service said a thunderstorm Tuesday evening brought heavy rain and high winds of up to 40 mph.
