Two customers inside a central New Jersey restaurant were injured when a sport utility vehicle driven by an elderly man crashed into the establishment during the lunch rush.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash at the LouCas Restaurant in Edison Township. Authorities say the vehicle went through the restaurant's front window around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a male restaurant patron suffered a head injury, while a woman had hip and back injuries. But their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver, identified only as a man in his 80s, and his passenger were not hurt.
