SPCA Offers Reward in Puppy Death

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a puppy and dumped it on a trail.

SPCA Chief Roy Gross says the puppy's body was found Friday in a plastic bag on a trail at Laurel Lake Preserve in Mattituck.

Gross says the puppy was a female border collie mix about 14 weeks old. He says the animal had been shot several times and still had pellets in its body.

Anyone with information about who might have killed the puppy is asked to call the SPCA at 631-382-7722.
