A pickup struck and killed a 21-year-old Rutgers University student who was crossing a busy highway, authorities say.

Authorities say the woman, whose name has not been released, was riding her bicycle on George Street in New Brunswick when she tried to cross Route 18 Thursday morning.

Authorities told the Home News Tribune of East Brunswick it was not immediately clear whether the woman was riding or walking the bike.

The driver of the pickup has not been charged.

The investigation into the accident continues.
