3 Killed in Crash on Route 287 in New Jersey

A truck driver was killed along with two men who came to his aid after he pulled over on the right shoulder of northbound Route 287 in Mahway, N.J., and a tractor-trailer plowed into them.

New Jersey State Police say the driver's cement truck was disabled on the side of the road Tuesday afternoon, and two workers had come to help him after the driver reported it breaking down.

The tractor-trailer then crashed into the cement truck, and hit another vehicle.

A couple in that sedan suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was also hurt.

The northbound side of the highway was closed for hours.
