Boys Sentenced to 18 Months for Sex Attacks on 2 Girls

    Four 13-year-old boys in Rockland County have been sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile detention center for raping a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her 12-year-old sister.

    Family Court Judge Sherri Eisenpress sentenced the youths Friday during a brief hearing at the Rockland County Court House in New City.

    The youths were all students at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School. The attacks happened at a home in Chestnut Ridge in June.

    The Journal News and Newsday reported that relatives of the boys sobbed, wailed and ran through the courthouse halls shouting after the sentence was announced.

    Attorneys for the boys told reporters that while they did something horrible, they were children and not fully aware of the harmfulness of their actions
