Star Is Placed on Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

You won't believe how many Swarovski crystals coat the star

Decorators placed the bright Swarovski star on top of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Wednesday morning.

A crane lifted the 550-pound star to the top of the 94-foot Norway spruce, the second-largest tree ever to take over the plaza.

The star shines with 25,000 Swarovski crystals and a total of one million facets.

With the 9.5-foot star precisely placed, the official tree lighting will occur on Nov. 30.
