Mother Canvassing for Answers After Son is Found Shot, Stabbed to Death

Amani Miller was found shot and stabbed to death in the Bay View Houses on March 15

A Brooklyn mother is making pleas online and canvassing a public housing project for information that could lead to an arrest in the death of her son, who she says was ambushed, stabbed and shot earlier this month.

"Please, I just need help,” said Allison Shinn. “I just need help”

Shinn’s son, 23-year-old A'mani Miller was found dead with multiple stab and gunshot wounds at the Bay View Houses in Canarsie on March 15. Shinn said that she thinks that Miller, who was making deliveries when he was killed, was lured into the public housing complex and ambushed.

"He was stabbed multiple times. Multiple gun shot wounds. At least once to the head,” she said. “And he died by himself."

Since authorities found Miller, Shinn said she’s made multiple trips from her home near Brooklyn College to the Bay View Houses to see if anyone knows anything.

Miller’s girlfriend, Danielle King, has also been canvassing the area to find answers.

“He didn’t deserve that,” King said. “He was a really good kid.”

Several friends have also visited the housing project, and Shinn has posted a video to Facebook asking for people to call Crime Stoppers.

Shinn said she thinks a practice of not cooperating with police is keeping someone with information from speaking up.

“If this was your son or one of your family members or a good friend or someone that you held really close to your heart you would definitely want someone to come forward and say something," she said.

The NYPD has released video of a black livery cab believed to be involved in the crime.

Anyone with information about Miller’s death should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
