Woman Stalked, Punched by Robbers Before Good Samaritans Intervene: Hoboken Police

Two men followed a woman as she walked home alone in Hoboken early Sunday morning, then ducked into her apartment building and punched her as they robbed her, police say.

Police are searching for the suspects, who allegedly followed the woman as she walked home just before 3 a.m., then sped up and began running as she approached her building.

The woman, fearing for her safety, went straight into her building, but one of the two men following her was able to get in and helped his accomplice inside, police said.

One of the men punched the woman in the face as he tried to take her purse, and after a brief struggle, was able to take her purse and iPhone, according to police.

Two bystanders jumped in and helped the victim, grabbing the purse back from the muggers before they ran away, police said.

The suspects were in their mid-20s, and one of them was about 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet in height and heavyset, wearing a blue Polo short-sleeve shirt. The other was thin and wearing what the victim believed to be a white jacket and a baseball-type cap.
