A woman taking money out of a bank in Manhattan on Monday says a man demanded $1,000 from her and threatened to splash her with acid if she didn't comply, cops say.
The man, who waved a bottle with some sort of liquid in it, followed the woman into Citibank on First Avenue and East 68th Street just before 4 p.m., authorities said.
The victim withdrew $500 and gave it to the robber, and then he ran away, officials said.
Police are looking into whether the robbery is linked to another similar one at the same bank back on May 12.
On that day, a man followed another woman into the ATM vestibule and threatened her by saying he’d throw acid in her face if she didn’t hand over the cash, authorities said.
The robber got away with $1,000, police said.
Authorities say both victims gave a similar description of the suspect.
