Man Breaks into Sleeping Women's Homes in Brooklyn, Chokes and Robs Them: NYPD

Police have arrested a man they believe broke into at least one sleeping woman's home in Brooklyn to steal valuables and officials say he may be connected to three other similar robberies.

The four reported robberies in Bedford-Stuyvesant happened over the past month, beginning Wednesday, May 6, when a suspect got in through an unlocked door just after 4:30 a.m. and grabbed a 27-year-old woman's neck as she slept, according to police. When she woke up, he fled with $100.

At about 7 a.m. the same morning, a suspect entered another home through an unlocked front door, and a 25-year-old woman woke up in time to see the suspect running off with $270 and a debit card, police said.

On Wednesday, May 13, at about 2:30 a.m., a suspect went into a home through an open window, and when the 28-year-old victim woke up while he was taking her purse, the suspect grabbed her throat and told her to be quiet, police said. He dropped the purse and ran away.

On Sunday, May 24, at about 9 p.m., a 23-year-old woman returned to her apartment to find the suspect inside. He ran out through a back window with the victim's electronics and property totaling about $2,500.

Jeffrey Robinson, 39, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a May 24th robbery, police said. Police were investigating whether he is connected to the three previous robberies.

Robinson was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, assault and criminal mischief. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Surveillance video from the May 13 incident has been released by police.
